This blog won't impress the professionals. That's ok. It's for people like me who just want a quick necklace or bracelet for themselves, or for a pressie. Usually in a hurry.

Blue square set.

Another little walk to Hobbycraft this week because i needed the 2 mile each way walk to keep the weight down. Well that's my excuse anyway .I bought some blue acrylic square beads and some glass ones to match. I already had some blue and cream pearls so i made this little set.
The light is really bad today so this photo is the best of a bad bunch. I may try again tomorrow and replace it with a better one.

Red and cream set.

I've finally managed to get around to playing with my new Hobbycaft beads. I've been busy working on papercraft stuff for my christmas stocking fillers.
Again, simply strung, this time with a magnetic clasp from one of my dismantled necklaces. It's surprising how strong these are. The bracelet is elasticated.

Some new beads.

I had a little trip to Hobbycraft the other day. and bought some beads and toggles.I can't believe how expensive this stuff has become. I used to make jewellery about 6 years ago when we had " The Bead Shop" of Manchester fame here in Chester. It closed down and my heart turned towards paper and card.
These few bits cost just over £17. I've been looking at finished jewellery for sale on the American Etsy site. There's finished necklaces for a fiver!! We couldn't get the raw materials here for that much, lol. I don't know how long i'll be able to keep this blog up for as my main hobby is papercrafts. The worst thing that will happen is that i'll combine the two and have a few bead posts on my card blog.Until then i still need to make loads of Christmas pressies,so i'll be here for a while.   Back soon to show what i've made with this paltry amount of stash.

Shell and pearl set.

I've been to Hobbycraft and bought a few beads, and do you know what i did? In my excitement i tipped them into little pots and threw away the packaging, so i can't tell you what make they are. I won't be so hasty in future.
The larger beads are a beautiful grey/green shell beads.  I mixed them with white pearls (not real of course) and clear Chrystal beads. Again they are strung on Beadalon 7 strand wire. There is probably different, better stuff available now but i'm using this up as i had some left from a few years ago. It's a shame i didn't have another toggle for the necklace as they are much easier to fasten than the screw fasteners. Who knows, one day i may be bored enough to restring it.

Three for me.

While i'm waiting to acquire more findings and beads i made myself 3 little elasticated bracelets.
The little letter beads were from the Trimits wirlygig stand at the local market. The rest of the stuff is from my dismantled old jewellery. Hubby knows loads of people so i've asked him to put the feelers out for old broken beads etc that people may be throwing out. He's already arrived home with a tangled mess which has quite a bit of potential, lol. Before i go i have a little tip to share.
I use a cheap watercolour palette to sort out my beads for my latest projects. The hollows are nice and shallow to get your fingers into. See you soon ,hopefully with some better stuff.    Di.xx

Double bracelet.

It took me far too long to make this bracelet. Partly because i had a few drinkies last night and was a bit shaky and partly because i had to restart it a couple of times to get it the right length.
This was made using beads from my ripped apart old jewellery. The only thing i had to buy was the toggle. It is threaded on Beadalon flexible 7 strand beading wire. It's slightly too big for me as i have quite skinny wrists so it's going into my christmas stocking fillers box.
